This is a serious guitar book - extremely well written and clear; unlike a lot of books. It goes into some fairly serious and involved concepts, but the author explains them slowly and step-by-step, not assuming much prior musical theory. Not just a collection of guitar licks, it focuses on developing solid fundamentals, particularly scales. As others have mentioned, it will be challenging for beginners (barre chords are expected from the beginning, for example) , but if you put in the time required, will learn a lot. The author notes on his website that he expects students to spend about two weeks per lesson. When you finish, you not only get a course in the Blues, but a solid foundation for Jazz and Rock as well. The songs are simple, but some of them are pretty good. We listen to the CD in the car sometimes just for entertainment. BTW, backing tracks without the lead are available on the website.Get more detail about Blues You Can Use (Blues You Can Use).
