Isabella Rossellini has used her status as actor, model, and animal activist to produce a work that adheres to each level of her career while providing an entertaining, informative product. "Green Porno" effectively mixes elements of humor, surrealism, and science to lay bare all the activities one only previously assumed the animal kingdom participated in - debauchery and sexual gratification to the extreme. The short films themselves are self-contained fast facts that both shock and amaze in their collaboration of the extremely suggestive (Rossellini's gyrating hips and oversized sexual organs) and the juvenile (cartoons and puppetry). The end result? A fascinating dive into the sexual behaviours intrinsic to all life, putting forth applicable questions of gender, sexual mores, sadomasochism, and even metaphorical cannibalism. Even greater appreciation must be heaped upon Rossellini's shoulders in her frank debasement of rhetoric and the carnal underscore apparent in many common English phrases. While these elements are abstract and certainly collegiate principals, the material is never pretentious beyond its admittedly odd turn in the final segment "Elephant Seals." Animal rights are brought under scruity by both Isabella and a biologist during the second series "Marine Animals", but the revelations are not as distracting as one might assume.
Although the DVD is toted as an additional feature of the book, I consider the writings secondary to the short films themselves. The stills, however, further fuel the argument that Isabella could land a LancĂ´me contract even at her current age. In any event, "Green Porno" is a true erotic education from earthworm to whale, and one would be amiss to overlook the sexual artistry.Get more detail about Green Porno.
